Abortions
Abortions: You've maybe heard about it, maybe not. But basically what an abortion is when a fetus, a baby inside the mothers' womb, is killed before it is born. There are many ways it can happen. Here are some facts:
- In the U.S., there are about as many abortions daily as people killed in 9/11
- 50,000,000 babies have been killed since the Roe vs. Wade case
- 51% of women who have abortions are under 25, 18% of them teens
- Half of all abortions have been of women who has already had at least one abortion
- 1/3 of all women will have an abortion before 45 years of age
- 39% of deaths in 2005 were abortions
- Every 24 seconds, a baby is aborted in the US
- 24% of all yearly deaths are from, yep, abortion
- 1 in 5 pregnancies end in abortion
- The number of abortions in the US each year is roughly equal to the number of US soldiers killed in any war the US have been in combined
Here are some ways abortions are done.
- Dilation & Curettage: a curettage is placed in the womb. The baby's body is cut and extracted, often by suction.
- Dilation & Evacuation: the baby's body is twisted by forceps and removed. The head is crushed and removed.
- Suction Abortion: a suction curettage is placed in the uterus. The baby's body is sucked out by suction.
